I've been married to Brian since June 21, 1985. We're both 48, and have a grown son who was born in July, 1986. After two subsequent miscarriages, we were barren thereafter until 2003, when we had another miracle pregnancy. It was a wonderful time of recapturing youth & vigor, and we were very excited to be so blessed. But sadly, Abigail died in utero the week of her due date thanks to some outrageous medical mismanagement. Consequently, her lifeless body was delivered on December 6, 2003 after nearly three days of sorrowed labor. She may have been born still, but she was still born and is still loved. It's been a painstaking process, but we continue to have hope that NM House Bill 196 will eventually be signed into law giving stillborn children the appropriate certificates of birth they deserve.

Sixteen months later, we were blessed again with a third child (pre-menopausal ovulation that came over a decade too late). Anne came into the world on April 28, 2005 after yet another wonderful pregnancy. Sadly, we discovered in the days after her birth that she had a common heart defect called VSD caused by trisomy 18. As it turned out, medical politics in New Mexico are such that a patient with trisomy 18 is typically determined to be medically "unworthy" of any sort of cardiac care. So the medical staff sent us home with virtually no cardiac treatment for a cardiac dysfunction that's quite commonly treated in other newborns. As a result, Anne died suddenly & unexpectedly of congestive heart failure on June 28, 2005. She was 61derful days old. Anne was a wonderful sparkly child, who along with her siblings, are the subject of most of my writings, rantings, and hobbies.
